01.08.2006, Inspected once again - Netsuite version 11.0

As a vendor-neutral CRM consulting company we frequently use the opportunity to reevaluate CRM solutions offered by different providers. For this reason we revised the CRM/ERP solution from Netsuite.
 
Besides the market leader salesforce.com, Netsuite (www.netsuite.com) is an attractive CRM provider, as their product integrates CRM, ERP and Ecommerce functionalities in a single on demand solution. This makes it possible to build a complete virtual office, which not only manages the customer-oriented value chain (e.g. from prospecting to billing), but also covers areas like financial and human resource management.

The following comparison presents the key points of our evaluation of features that go beyond or stay behind the standard functionalities of CRM on demand solutions of other competitors.
 
Positive key points are:
  • ERP functionality, e.g. in areas like product management, storage, shipping and financial management
  • Multi-language and multi-currency support
  • Outlook synchronization and offline client
  • Excellent integration of inbound and outbound emails
  • Email marketing campaigns with unlimited mass email functionalities
  • Data interface via web service
  • Sophisticated reporting features
  • Well-structured workflow of a sales opportunity, from offer to invoice


Weaknesses are:
  • Complex and less intuitive user interface
  • Performance issues while using the help system
  • Complex role-based permission model with inflexible role assignment
  • Inadequate support of workflows
  • Contract management is not included in standard



Conclusion:
Netsuite is one of the fastest growing US software companies (IPO planned for 2006) and introduces an interesting solution because of the possible combination of ERP and CRM functionalities.

Nevertheless in our opinion the following reasons do not speak for the use of Netsuite.
  • Complex user interface
  • Insufficient performance (compared to salesforce.com or Siebel-on-Demand)
  • Inadequate support of Netsuite in the central European market
